My Beloved Monster was formed in 2010 by Kate Olivia (vox & guitar) and James Carthew (bass/guitar). The two met in 2007 whilst attending UNSW and spent their early university years experimenting with music. In 2010 they began My Beloved Monster, creating dark engaging music infused with themes of desire, venom and rock ‘n roll swagger. Joined by Marika Petrie on drums My Beloved Monster has been described as ‘a knife fight between Placebo and The Kills’, and ‘a little garage band with a big sound.’ Raw guitars, palpitating bass lines, a thrashed drum kit and a voice like a female Ian Curtis, My Beloved Monster wants your soul.
